Frequently Asked Questions

Why does Uxbridge Arms offer a Hunt Camp?

Uxbridge Arms supports the local community by sponsoring several private local hunt camps. Uxbridge Arms wants to get new hunters into the field and these camps have about 2000 acres of private lands in total and are non-profit private camps. There are currently four camps taking members - Madoc Camp, Stirling Camp, Turriff Camp and Port Perry Camp. These camps are all on private lands and most of these camps are surrounded by thousands of acres of crown land.

I am new to hunting. Am I allowed to join?

Subject to an application and interview, you may join one of these clubs! They are all beginner friendly and no experience is necessary. There will always be senior members on-site, ready to help you throughout your hunt, including field dressing your deer and getting the deer to the butcher - if you need help.

What are the WMUs for the camps?

Madoc Camp is WMU 68A.

Stirling Camp is WMU 68A.

Goose and Duck hunting is available in Port Perry only in 2026.

What sleeping arrangements do the camps have?

Madoc has a traditional central lodge with overnight bunk bed style sleeping, then a walk out to one of 6 tree blinds. There is a generator and a small kitchen.

There are dozens of trail cameras set up around to monitor activity.

Can I get online access to the trail cameras?

Where do I park?

A map will be given to you after your booking is complete. Once you arrive, you’ll be escorted to your cabin. If you have difficulty walking, the senior member will be able to drive you to your cabin.

What should I expect a hunt to be like at Madoc Camp?

On the day of your hunt, you will have to arrive at 12:00PM. You will be greeted by a senior member, who will escort your group  to the cabin, and show you the 6 hunting blinds. Once you get your gear ready, you can go to your blinds and begin hunting right away! Thirty minutes after sunset you must pack up and return to the central cabin to sleep. You can return to the blind 30 minutes before sunrise to continue hunting, so be sure to get up early. Keep odours to a minimum, its best not to eat in the tree blind, just focus on the hunt.

Once you have taken a shot, you must IMMEDIATELY call the senior member. DO NOT attempt to track the game yourself! The senior member will assist or teach you how to track the deer and field dress.

What is Stirling Camp?

Stirling Camp is 10 minutes away from Madoc Camp with its own 250 acres of private land. Stirling Camp has a group of 5 wilderness cabins which you can directly sleep and hunt from.

What should I expect a hunt to be like at Stirling Camp?

On the day of your hunt, you will have to arrive at 12:00PM. You will be greeted by a senior member, who will escort you to your booked cabin. Once you are settled and ready, you are allowed to hunt directly from the cabin! You will not need to leave the cabin, as your cabin is pre-baited for you. You will have 30 minutes after sunset to hunt and you will also have 30 minutes before sunrise to hunt, so be sure to get up early.

Once you have taken a shot, you must IMMEDIATELY call the senior member. DO NOT attempt to track the game yourself! The senior member will assist or teach you how to track the deer and field dress.
