Unless stated otherwise, all used, antique and military surplus rifles are sold in as-is condition without any warranty. Upon request, we can arrange to have any firearm inspected and test-fired by a gunsmith for $40 plus cleaning charges. Otherwise, these firearms must be stripped and cleaned by the buyer prior to using the firearm. Military surplus rifles often have military (cosmoline) grease in the barrel and action which may cause improper operation if not cleaned prior to use.

The SMLE No. 1 Mk III (Short Magazine Lee-Enfield) is one of the most iconic rifles of the early 20th century, originally introduced by the British Army in 1907. It was chambered in .303 British and became the standard-issue rifle for British and Commonwealth (like Australia where this rifle is made) forces during World War I and World War II. Known for its 10-round magazine and smooth, fast bolt-action, the SMLE was capable of delivering rapid, accurate fire, making it a formidable weapon on the battlefield.

The No. 1 Mk III was celebrated for its rugged reliability in the trenches of WWI, where its relatively short length and quick reloading capabilities gave soldiers an edge in close-quarters combat. Its design was further refined throughout its service, with the Mk III being one of the most refined and widely produced versions. While replaced in some Commonwealth armies by later versions like the No. 4 Mk I, the SMLE remained in service in various roles with the British and other nations for many years after the wars.

Today, the SMLE No. 1 Mk III is revered by collectors and enthusiasts for its historical importance and the role it played in two world wars, serving as one of the most reliable and influential bolt-action rifles of the 20th century.
